SlipKnoT nasıl doğdu?Iowa’nin Des Moines köyünden gelen bir çok poser gruptan farklı olarak kendi müziğini yapan Iron Maiden, Kiss, Slayer dinleyerek büyümüş müzikleriyle Des Moines’u haritada gösterilebilecek hale getiren bir nefret makinasıdır SlipKnoT. 1996 yılında kaynak işinde çalışan Shawn Crahan ve arkadaşı Anders Colsefini tarafindan SlipKnoT fikri ortaya cıkar. Shawn, Paul Gray isimli arkadaşını denemek için L.A’dan cağırır. Daha sonra gruba Paul’ün eski grup arkadaşı(Anal Blast) Joey Jordison, Donnie Steele (Body Pit) ve Josh Brainiard (Modifidious) eklenir.
